Fabrics can completely transform a look or feel of an outfit or a venue and with this DIY snagged from Project Wedding you’ll be transforming yourself or your space in no time. These flowers can be used in your hair, in a bouquet, adorning tables and chairs or even making surprise appearances around reception tables.
What You'll need:
- Chiffon & Tulle (amounts vary depending on how many flowers you’ll be making)
- Paper
- Pen
- Scissors
- Pins
- Needle & Thread
- Glass Seed Beads
- Hair Clips or a Comb
Step 1: Draw a flower shape onto the piece of paper, retracing it five
times on a larger sheet – which will help the flower to become fuller. Then cut
it out.
Step 2: Fold a bit of the fabric into a square, pin the flower pattern to the fabric and carefully cut it out. Repeat until you’ve gotten enough layers to make a full flower. (Note: This example has 26 layers).
Step 3: Stack the layers. Make sure they’re off-centered with staggered petals, it will help to create fullness. Then use a needle and thread to ensure that they stay together in the center.
.
Step 4: Pinch the bottom-center of the flower, secure using your needle and thread. This will create volume, giving the flower authenticity.
Don’t forget to use your imagination! Add beads or even a small, sparkly broach to personalize it.
When you’re finished decorating your flower, sew it to a piece of ribbon, headband or comb to use in your hair…or don’t. Use your inventive side and find just the right place to use these little beauties on your wedding day. No matter how they’re used they will be a lovely addition to any outfit or centerpiece.
